MIAMI, Florida – The celebrations don't stop when you lift the trophy, and Juventus know a thing or two about being champions and figures in Italian women’s football. Their squad is full of stars, one of them being Canadian MF Julia Grosso, who was just awarded as the midfielder of the season in Italy.

After her great performance in the Serie A and other domestic competitions, the 22-year-old has been celebrating her sporting achievements for a long time now. Last week, with her being a key player on and off the pitch, Juventus won the Coppa Italia against league champions Roma. Emotions were high and everything was up for grabs to get the last title of the season.

Juventus, with Grosso in the starting XI, battled the entire game, scoring a late goal that would allow them to lift the trophy and celebrate yet another title.

Grosso was key to controlling the game and also helping her team create scoring chances, some of them almost seeing the back of the net. It was clear that the Canada international had a goal in mind, and she accomplished it by writing her name into Italian football history.

Grosso not only shined in Juventus' Coppa final, but she did it the entire season, each game demonstrating why she is one of the most valuable players in Serie A, finishing with 20 appearances, 16 starts and three goals. The panel of experts saw her display of talent and will in every game, naming her the winner of the “Midfielder of the Season” award.

In Serie A, Coppa Italia, UEFA Women’s Champions League and more, Grosso showed why people are saying she is one to watch in the next Women’s World Cup that will take place in Australia / New Zealand this summer.

Her name appears in the provisional list that Canada Soccer released earlier this month. The squad will be in camp prior to the World Cup competing in a friendly against France, the final list being released on July 9.

As it happened in 2021 at the Tokyo Olympics, where she, alongside her teammates won the Gold medal, and in 2022 at the Concacaf W Championship, in which Canada ended up as Runners-up, Grosso will be a player everyone will be watching to see what she does to help Canada go as far as possible in the most important tournament of them all.
