Callum O’Hare could leave Sheffield United before transfer deadline day on September 1.
The Blades have started their 2025/26 campaign in nightmare fashion, losing three straight league games alongside crashing out of the EFL Cup at the hands of Birmingham City.
It has been a summer of change at Bramall Lane, with multiple incomings and outgoings alike. There could still be further departures in the final few days of the window, with O’Hare named as a potential candidate to exit.
The 27-year-old joined Sheffield United last summer following the expiration of his contract with Coventry City and made 47 appearances for the Blades en route to the Championship play-off final.
However, according to Teamtalk, O’Hare could depart the Steel City Side this summer.
It’s stated that the Blades will only sanction the playmaker’s exit if they can identify a suitable replacement first but aren’t opposed to the idea of cashing in on O’Hare.
Legia Warsaw are keen on securing his services, according to the Star, with Sheffield United willing to sell for £2 million.
Ruben Selles willingly played the Aston Villa youth product during the early stages of the 2025/26 campaign, starting each of United’s three league games but it has been reported that there are question marks over his ability to slot into the manager’s system effectively.
O’Hare scored four goals and provided six assists for Chris Wilder and Co. last term, a return which ultimately didn’t match the 10 goals and four assists he achieved during his last season with Coventry.
Given O’Hare’s ability and continued presence in the Sheffield United starting 11, it comes as somewhat of a shock to see him reportedly up for sale.
However, it has been apparent during the early stages of the 2025/26 campaign that he doesn’t fit into Selles’ system perfectly, often deployed in a central midfield role that doesn’t get the best out of his abilities.
When speaking to the Star, the Blades’ boss refused to rule out a potential exit in the coming days for O’Hare.
"I'm confident but as I said many times, this is football and no one is bigger than Sheffield United as a club,” said Selles. “So if there is a proposal for someone, he wants to go, it's the money that we expected and we have a plan behind that, then it probably will happen.
Losing O’Hare’s creativity would be a blow for the Blades, but if he can’t operate in Selles’ system, it would make sense for the Steel City Side to cash in and make a profit on a player they acquired for free one year ago.
