Feyenoord defender Quilindschy Hartman has become a prime target for Premier League club Burnley in their search for a new left-back, according to 1908 NL.

After the departure of Ian Maatsen, who has returned to parent club Chelsea, the Clarets are now seeking a replacement, and Hartman seems to be their pick.

Maatsen spent last season on loan at Burnley in the Championship. The 21-year-old helped them climb into the Premier League with four goals and six assists in 39 appearances.

Interestingly, Maatsen was a target for Feyenoord last summer before he joined Burnley. Maatsen has returned to Chelsea, and Burnley have their eye on the Feyenoord man to replace him.

Hartman caught Burnley’s eye with his impressive performances, showing solid grounding defensively and offensively.

During a recent pre-season match against Benfica, the 21-year-old assisted fan-favourite Santiago Gimenez and left Burnley’s scouts that went to watch him thoroughly impressed.

Burnley’s interest in Hartman is not a secret. However, Feyenoord will not let Hartman go without a fight.

The Rotterdam club values him at over €20 million and intends to offer him a contract extension to keep him in their ranks.

Rival interest has also emerged, with West Ham United showing interest in Hartman with Aaron Cresswell leaving. But as of now, the Hammers have yet to make a concrete move, giving Burnley the advantage in their pursuit.

Burnley don’t have many left-back options, having only Charlie Taylor on their roster.

Acquiring Hartman could strengthen their squad significantly for the season ahead. It wouldn’t be surprising if they approach Feyenoord in the later stages of the transfer window.

While Hartman’s contract with Feyenoord runs till 2025, negotiations for an extension have hit a roadblock.

Discussions have been ongoing, but an agreement has not been reached. New meetings are on the agenda to resolve the matter.

For now, Feyenoord remain optimistic about retaining the young defender beyond the summer but could change their stance if they receive a substantial fee from Burnley.
