Vincent Kompany has been appointed the new manager of Burnley following the club’s relegation to the Championship.
The Clarets have been searching for a new permanent manager since Sean Dyche was sacked in April, with caretaker manager Mike Jackson put in temporary charge until the end of the season.
And it is former Belgian international defender Kompany who has now been tasked with returning the club to the Premier League.
Having spent the bulk of his playing career captaining Manchester City, Kompany is no stranger to the north west of England.
The 36-year-old multiple Premier League winner left City at the end of the 2018/19 season and took charge of his boyhood club Anderlecht, whom he guided to fourth and third place finishes in the Belgian First Division over the last two seasons.
