Divock Origi is set to fly to the United Kingdom amid deadline day interest from Premier League duo Burnley and Nottingham Forest, according to Sky Sports.

Origi struggled to make an impact during his debut campaign at AC Milan last season. He featured 36 times in all competitions, scoring just twice. He is yet to make an appearance this term.

However, the Belgian’s previous spell in England was reasonably successful. He spent seven years at Liverpool, where he became something of a cult hero.

Despite not being a regular starter, the forward netted 41 goals for the Reds. This included a brace in the memorable Champions League semi-final comeback against Barcelona and a strike in the 2019 final versus Tottenham Hotspur.

The 28-year-old also has plenty of experience on the international stage. He has earned 32 caps for Belgium, featuring in two major tournaments.

He could now be set for a return to the Premier League. with Burnley and Forest preparing to battle for his signature.

The Clarets have made a difficult start to the season, falling to defeat in their first two fixtures against Manchester City and Aston Villa. They have scored just one goal – only Everton have fewer.

Manager Vincent Kompany currently has Zeki Amdouni, Lyle Foster, Jay Rodriguez and Michael Obafemi to choose from up front. He may demand a more proven option if he wishes to avoid a relegation battle.

As for Forest, they have taken three points from their opening three games. They defeated newly-promoted Sheffield United at home but were beaten at Arsenal and Manchester United.

In Taiwo Awoniyi, the Reds have one of the league’s most in-form strikers. The Nigerian has scored in each of his last seven league outings and is currently the division’s top scorer.

However, a new forward may be welcome, depending on the future of Wales international Brennan Johnson.

The youngster is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford and could be sold for up to £50 million today.
