Lille OSC’s Yusuf Yazıcı (27) was the victim of an attempted burglary yesterday afternoon when a group of burglars tried to enter his house armed with hammers.

La Voix du Nord reports that the Turkish international on his day off from training was disturbed by the sound of thudding on his front door. When he went to check he saw that several people were attempting to hammer down his door.

Yazıcı called the police and the burglars were arrested on the spot while they were still attempting to prize open his door. According to La Voix du Nord’s information they are still being held in custody.

On Instagram, Yazıcı posted on his story a picture of him down at the police station with the caption “Again and again and again.” This is now the third time that Yazıcı’s house has been targeted since he moved to Lille in 2019.

The first occurred in 2020 when his home was visited and his car was stolen as the player was recovering from surgery in Italy, while the second happened last year on the 14th of December while he was representing Lille in the Europa Conference League (3-0 against KÍ Klaksvik), the player returned home to find his house ransacked and several luxury items stolen.

A relative of Yazıcı has told the paper that “the player is in shock” ahead of tonight’s visit to AS Monaco.
