Ajax striker Brian Brobbey has talked up a potential move to Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

The Dutchman has been a key player for the Eredivisie outfit this term, registering 21 goals and 10 assists in 39 appearances in all competitions.

His form has led to suggestions that he could secure a bigger challenge soon. He has now revealed his desire to play for a very big football club.

In an interview with Men’s Health (Dutch April edition), Brobbey said that he has great things to achieve in his career and mentioned United as one of his dream destinations.

When asked about his potential transfer value, the former RB Leipzig man added that he could be worth €80 million after the European Championships in Germany.

He said: “I’m about to blossom. If I see myself and how I have played in the last few months, I think I am doing quite well. I still want to achieve many great things in my career, such as playing for a very big football club.

“Real Madrid is a beautiful club. Arsenal, Manchester United. How much am I worth? After the European Championships, €80m. Going to the European Championships is also a dream of mine.

“If I can score a goal, I promote myself even more and increase my value. If I succeed, I’m doing well. I have to score that goal. I want to pay Ajax back. Of course I left, but they brought me back. I want to make sure I have been worth it.”

Brobbey played under manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax in two different spells. He was on loan at Ajax during the second half of the 2021/22 season before rejoining them permanently.

Ten Hag tried to bring him to Old Trafford, but Brobbey had already committed to Ajax. However, the striker has refused to rule out a future transfer. He has described United as his dream club.

There is a possibility that United could make an approach this summer if Ten Hag continues with the club. However, they are unlikely to pay anywhere close to €80m for him.

The club have been criticised by some fans for the huge €100m outlay on Antony. United have been guilty of overpaying in the past and INEOS are unlikely to make the same mistake.
