Bristol City signed Ryan Kent on loan from Liverpool in January 2018, and the Robins will have hoped that the then 21-year-old would be a strong addition to Ashton Gate.

But the winger made just 11 appearances in all competitions for the Robins, and failed to score a single goal, although he did provide two assists in 10 Championship outings.

Bristol City fans will have been left disappointed by Ryan Kent contributions

Given that Kent is a Liverpool academy graduate, and the Reds are renowned for having a strong youth system, the Ashton Gate faithful may have expected more from him during his time at the club.

However, the winger offered very little to the West Country outfit, who finished the 2017-18 Championship campaign in 11th place, eight points behind the play-off spots.

The ace was also not offered as many minutes as he would have liked by then Robins manager Lee Johnson, who offered Kent just six starting 11 opportunities in the second tier.

The lack of game-time Johnson offered Kent led to the Robins being ordered to pay a fine of £200,000 for not offering the wideman the number of appearances they had agreed with Liverpool, as reported by the Bristol Post in 2018.

Such a development will have further angered the Ashton Gate faithful, who will have already been left frustrated by the winger's uninspiring stint in the West Country.

Following his spell at Ashton Gate, Kent joined Scottish giants Rangers for the 2018-19 season, where he played on a much more regular basis.

He played 43 games across all competitions that campaign, including nine appearances in the Europa League, and made 10 goal contributions in the Scottish Premiership.

Robins supporters will be bemused by Kent's achievements with Rangers

Following his disappointing stint for the Robins, Kent became a successful player in Glasgow, and signed for the Gers permanently in September 2019 for a reported fee of £7.5 million.

During the 2019-20 season, Kent scored eight goals and created three assists across all competitions, scoring seven goals in the Premiership and one goal in the Europa League.

However, the Scottish Premiership campaign was cut short due to Covid-19, so the winger was only able to make 21 league appearances in his first campaign as a permanent player for the Gers.

But the ace's best season was just around the corner, as during the 2020-2021 campaign, he scored 10 goals and produced nine assists in 37 appearances as the Gers won their first title since 2011.

The next campaign would prove to be an equally magical one for the blue half of Glasgow, as the Ibrox outfit reached the 2022 Europa League final, which is arguably one of the greatest underdog tales in modern football history.

Kent played a vital run in the Gers' unlikely run to the Europa League final, as he scored one goal, and provided three assists in 12 starts and 13 appearances.

One of the assists the wideman made came at a pivotal moment for his side, as he set up James Tavernier to score the first goal in the semi-final second leg which the Gers won 3-1 to progress to the final.

Kent played every minute of the final, but there would be no fairytale ending as Frankfurt emerged victorious by winning a penalty shoot-out 5-4 after a 1-1 draw.

Following the winger's impressive feats in Glasgow, he joined Turkish Super Lig outfit Fenerbache ahead of the 2023/24 season, but Robins supporters will always be left incredibly surprised by his exploits with the Gers following an underwhelming Ashton Gate stint.
