WSL strugglers Bristol City came back twice to gain a point away at Aston Villa thanks to goals from Jordan Nobbs and a stunner from Carrie Jones.

Scorers: Nobbs 13′, Leon 60′ ; Thestrup 15′, Jones 75′

Villa opened the scoring against their struggling visitors in fortunate fashion, when Nobbs’ strike from outside the box took a big deflection to find the bottom corner.

Bristol however briefly stunned their hosts with an instant response as Amalie Thestrup poked the ball past Daphne van Domselaar after being assisted by Emily Syme.

Carla Ward’s side regained control in the second half when Adriana Leon finished from a tight angle following a cushioned header from Rachel Corsie.

But yet again Lauren Smith’s Bristol City refused to give up and they dragged themselves level with a screamer from Jones who found the top corner from distance.

The draw sees Bristol stay bottom but move withing two points of 11th placed West Ham, whereas Aston Villa fall below Leicester City into 8th.
