The Robins revealed the news via a post on their official club Twitter account earlier today.
Bristol City have been playing the vast majority of their home games at their purpose-built training facility at The Robins High Performance Centre on the edge of the city whilst staging occasional games at Ashton Gate. The Robins secured promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Super League with a 4-0 victory over Charlton Athletic at Ashton Gate yesterday and the club have now revealed their intention to use the main stadium as their primary home next season.
While full details of the Ashton Gate move are yet to be revealed, it seems likely that all home games in the Barclays Women’s Super League will be staged in BS3 while The Robins High Performance Centre could be considered for matches in the early stages of the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup where attendances are expected to be lower.
Sunday’s season-defining fixture against Charlton Athletic attracted an attendance of 7,045, an all-time record crowd for a Bristol City Women home fixture. With the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and the two Manchester clubs set to visit Ashton Gate next season, more huge attendances could follow.
