Brighton & Hove Albion are confident in extending Joel Veltman’s contract to beyond the summer, according to The Athletic.

The Albion, currently fighting for a European spot next season, do have an option to extend the former Ajax defender’s contract for another season but are keen to offering him a new deal.

Since joining the club in June 2020, Veltman has been instrumental at the American Express Community Stadium either as a centre-back or right-back for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

He was one of the first names on the teamsheet until an injury set him back which saw him miss out on the league trips to Chelsea and Nottingham Forest as well as a substitute appearance in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United.
