Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed an unfortunate blow ahead of the club’s Europa League clash with Marseille.
Pervis Estupiñán will be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up a muscle injury during the club’s 6-1 loss to Aston Villa.
“He can’t play for a long time. He’s an important player we are losing,” revealed the manager.
“We can play in that position with Tariq Lamptey, Igor Julio. [But] it’s one month, more or less.”
The news arrives as. huge blow for the club with Brighton facing Liverpool, Manchester City and Fulham next before Ajax in the Europa League.
It means he will also miss Ecuador’s two World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Colombia in October.
So far this season, Estupiñán has provided one goal and three assists in eight matches for the Seagulls across all competitions.
