Brighton have reportedly activated the £40 million release clause of Leeds United forward Georginio Rutter, according to David Ornstein for the Athletic.
The Elland Road club have previously turned down bids of £29 million and £35 million from Brighton, but the Premier League outfit have now taken the step to activate his ‘exit mechanism’.
The 22-year-old chipped in with seven goals and 15 assists in 47 Championship appearances last season as Leeds failed to earn promotion in the playoff final.
Rutter will now have to make the final decision on his future.
