Liverpool were much better this time round and took the lead in the 30th minute through Harvey Elliott.

Brighton battled back and restored parity nine minutes later when Lewis Dunk found the net.

The home side kept pushing and they won the game in stoppage-time after a moment of magic from Kaoru Mitoma.

The Japanese winger produced a brilliant touch and finish to ensure Brighton’s progression to the fifth round of the competition.

Roberto De Zerbi got revenge on Liverpool after Harvey Elliott’s actions

Roberto De Zerbi has done a superb job since joining Brighton in September.

De Zerbi had a tough task continuing the fine work of Graham Potter.

But Brighton have continued to excel despite the change of management.

De Zerbi has already established himself as a popular figure at Brighton.

He comes across as a non-nonsense manager who isn’t someone who you would want to mess with.

And he did his reputation among Brighton fans no harm after getting revenge on Liverpool after Harvey Elliott’s actions during the match.

Brighton were given a throw-in right in front of their dugout in the 27th minute.

De Zerbi picked up the ball with the intention of giving it to one of his players, only for Elliott to knock the ball out of his hands.

Fabinho and Darwin Nunez could be seen on the bench laughing at the incident.

De Zerbi did not find the moment amusing. He was clearly not impressed.

And he made sure to get revenge minutes later when Liverpool were given a throw-in in virtually the same position.

Cody Gakpo raced to the touchline with the intention of taking the throw-in quickly.

De Zerbi made sure that did not happen. He picked up the ball and threw it away, just like Elliott did. Watch two different videos of De Zerbi’s revenge below…

You don’t mess with De Zerbi.

Who will Brighton play next in the FA Cup?

Brighton’s reward for defeating Liverpool is a fifth round tie away at Stoke City.

The match will be played at the Britannia Stadium on March 1.
