José Mourinho has been dismissed as head coach of Fenerbahçe, the Turkish giants announced on Friday.
It comes in the wake of their Champions League playoff round loss to Benfica on Wednesday night, when a narrow loss in Lisbon condemned them to a 1-0 aggregate defeat.

In a brief statement, the club confirmed that he has been fired with immediate effect as they look for a successor.
The decision means he lasted little over a year in charge, having taken over in June last year and leading the side to a second place finish.
However, just two games into the new campaign, he has departed.
