Athletico Paranaense goalkeeper Bento is reportedly leaning towards joining Inter Milan in what would be a heartfelt move.
The Nerazzurri already tried to acquire the Brazilian’s services last summer when they were revamping their goalkeeping department. However, his employers refused to let him go.
But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Paranaense won’t stand in the player’s way this time around.
The Brazilian club reportedly promised the player he could leave this summer after blocking his passage last year.
The source adds that Paranaense have named their price at 20 million euros. The goalkeeper’s contract reportedly included a release clause worth 60 million euros, but the source claims it has now expired.
Therefore, Inter will try again, as they still consider the 24-year-old as the right profile for the future. He could initially serve as a backup for Yann Sommer before eventually taking the torch from the Swiss veteran.
Moreover, the report claims the Nerazzurri could have a significant advantage in the race, as Bento himself favors a move to Appiano Gentile.
The Milan-based newspaper reveals that the young custodian grew up idolizing Inter legend and treble hero Julio Cesar.
Therefore, the Brazilian’s heart is telling him to choose Inter, as the source reveals.
Bento is enjoying a solid campaign thus far. He has registered 12 clean sheets in 22 appearances across all competitions for Paranaense, while only conceding 12 goals.
The goalkeeper earned great acclaim last Match when he made his senior Brazil debut at Wembley. He managed to keep a clean sheet in the friendly against England.
So while his exploits attracted the interest of several other suitors, including Chelsea, the Nerazzurri will be counting on the player’s favor to seal the deal.
