Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto feels that it’s important for him to give his contribution no matter the position he plays in.

The 24-year-old spoke to InterTV ahead of this evening’s Serie A match against Udinese, via FCInterNews.

Augusto showed his versatility in last Sunday’s Serie A match against Napoli.

The Brazilian did not start that match. But he was called into action fewer than twenty minutes into proceedings, due to an injury to Stefan de Vrij.

The Dutchman had to come off, so Francesco Acerbi moved into the centre of defense.

And this meant that Augusto played in a position that is not his usual one – on the left side of the back three.

When Inter signed Augusto from Monza, it was certainly for a more attacking role.

The Brazilian had impressed with his displays on the flank for Monza last season.

But Augusto evidently also has the right qualities to fill in in defense.

The 24-year-old put in a solid shift to help Inter to a clean sheet away to Napoli.

Carlos Augusto: Have To Help The Team Regardless Of Position

“I felt very comfortable in that position,” Augusto said of playing in defense.

“And I have to be ready to help the team regardless of the position I play.”

“Whatever position the team needs me in, I can do well,” the Brazilian said.

As far as whether the Nerazzurri can sustain the momentum from their win over Napoli this evening against Udinese, Augusto said that “It’s not hard.”

“Because we have a team with a lot of quality as well as physicality,” he added.

“The important thing is that we stay focused and play a good match as we did in Naples.”

And as far as playing at San Siro again, Augusto said that “I believe our fans are the best in the league.”

“When they’re with us they help us a lot, and we have to play a good match for them too.”
