Despite already having qualified for Qatar, Brazil were able to continue their unbeaten run in Conmebol qualifiers as they earned a point in Argentina.

Early proceedings were extremely uneventful as both sides failed to register a single shot on target through the first 39 minutes, though the two sides clashed on several occasions around the hour-mark.

The two sides nearly came to blows in the 33rd minutes just after a spectacular move from Raphinha, with the Leeds United star receiving a crunching elbow in the lip from NicolĂĄs Otamendi.

In surprising fashion, Otamendi wouldn’t be punished even after an intervention from VAR.

The second half would see the quality improve drastically but there was little in terms in the way of attack, as the two sides engaged in a rather entertaining midfield battle that couldn’t find a breakthrough.

Argentina were far ahead of Brazil in chances, winning the corner battle 7-0, yet couldn’t come through when it mattered most.

The South American sides will now go back to their respective club sides until the end of January when Brazil will travel to Ecuador while Argentina will head to Chile.
