Brazil right-back Fagner will miss the international friendlies against the United States and El Salvador with a thigh injury.
The Corinthians defender felt the problem during the Copa Libertadores clash with Colo-Colo.
“I felt a discomfort in the tendon and I was afraid of being worse,” Fagner said.
“I was already limiting myself, so I preferred to leave and let someone in better condition help the team.”
The Brazilian had another thigh issue in April but managed to work his way back to fitness for the World Cup in Russia.
It is understood the 29-year-old will be out of action for three to four weeks with the injury.
