Here we have picked two players Burnley should try to sign before Luton Town match on August 12th.
It has been a steady summer transfer window for Burnley so far, as the club looks to put together a squad capable of competing in the Championship.
The Clarets disappointed last season in the Premier League, and with Vincent Kompany leaving the club, it is now down to Scott Parker to guide Burnley back to the top flight.
His late arrival has meant Parker hasn’t overseen all the club’s transfer business this summer, but with him now settling in, he will be leading the chase to secure his top signings for the rest of this window.
What Burnley do in the rest of this transfer window may depend on which players depart the club, but ideally, Parker would probably like to add one or two more players to his squad before the start of the Championship season.
With that said, here we have looked at two signings Burnley should try to make before the Luton Town match…
Burnley have already added to their goalkeeper ranks this summer, with Vaclav Hladky signing for the Clarets after leaving Ipswich Town on a free transfer.
Hladky joins James Trafford as the club’s recognised goalkeepers in the first team after Burnley decided to move on Arijanet Muric, Bailey Peacock-Farrell, and Lawrence Vigouroux.
While Hladky and Trafford are two very good goalkeepers to have at their disposal in the Championship, the Clarets may be looking to add a third option, just so they have a very good goalkeeper unit to pick from and some security given Trafford's attractiveness in the market.
Therefore, if Burnley are looking to add another goalkeeper to their squad, then they should be looking to wrap up a deal for AFC Bournemouth shotstopper Mark Travers.
It was reported last week by Alan Nixon that Burnley have Travers under consideration should Trafford depart Turf Moor.
Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Trafford, but yet, nothing has materialised.
It appears that Parker has targeted a move for Travers, who he worked with at Bournemouth, should Burnley lose Trafford at some point this summer.
However, as stated, given that the Clarets have seen three good goalkeepers leave this summer, Burnley could be looking to add one more option in that area of the pitch.
The Championship side should be trying to lure Travers away from the Premier League side before their season gets underway against Luton, as Parker would ideally like to start the campaign with all of his goalkeeper options in place.
Another player that the Lancashire side should be looking to get through the door before the start of the Championship season is midfielder Brahima Diarra.
The 21-year-old had been with Huddersfield Town since 2019, playing for the club’s different age groups.
The midfielder was promoted to the first team in the 2022/23 season, and he went on to play 44 times for the club in two seasons.
His contract came to an end last month, and with Huddersfield being relegated to League One, Diarra decided to pursue another challenge.
He still remains without a football club, and it has now been reported by French outlet Foot Mercato that Burnley, Hull City, and Leeds United are all interested in signing the player.
As well as these three Championship teams being interested, Leicester City and Serie A side Verona are also keen on the midfielder.
The good news for Burnley is that, given that Diarra is a free agent, the Clarets don’t have to discuss any terms with a club; they just need to agree with the player himself to arrange a move.
The midfielder is currently representing France in the Olympics, so a move may occur after the competition has finished. But either way, Burnley should look to add the midfielder to their squad this summer, as he could be a very useful pick up, given his age and the fact he already has experience in the Championship.
