Bradley Dack departed Blackburn Rovers at the end of his contract in the summer of 2023
Bradley Dack has opened up on his disrespectful ending to his Blackburn Rovers career.
The 31-year-old initially joined the Lancashire outfit in 2017, and was a key part of establishing the club back in the Championship, helping them gain promotion from League One in his first year at Ewood Park.
However, injuries derailed his time with Blackburn, leading to him making just 64 league appearances across his last four seasons with the club.
His final appearance came as a 90th minute substitute in a 4-3 win over Millwall, with the team narrowly missing out on a top six finish on that final day of the 2022/23 season due to Sunderland’s 3-0 win over Preston North End.
Dack has criticised Blackburn for the way they handled his departure from the club, with everyone knowing the Millwall clash would be his last chance to play for the team amid his expiring contract.
He claimed he loved the club, so that being given just 30 seconds to play for the team one last time didn’t sit right with him.
"If I'm honest, I found my last game quite disrespectful," said Dack, via the Lancashire Telegraph.
"Everyone knew Sunderland were winning 3-0 at Preston so the game was done.
“To be told to come on for 30 seconds at the end was really disappointing for me.
"It wasn't a nice ending.
“I had a massive affinity with that club, I love it, the fans, the people around the club.
“It was a horrible ending."
Dack made the move to Sunderland that summer, reuniting with his former boss at Ewood Park Tony Mowbray, but he now plies his trade with League Two side Gillingham after joining the team in 2024.
Dack was once a crucial player to Blackburn, with his first two seasons at the club really standing out at both a League One and Championship level.
He scored 18 times en route to promotion from the third tier, and then contributed a further 15 goals and seven assists in that first campaign back in the second division.
But injuries really held him back, which hurt Blackburn and it’s hard not to imagine what could’ve been for both the player and the club had he been able to remain consistently fit.
This led to an underwhelming final campaign with the team, and ultimately he was given a flat send-off as a result by then manager Jon Dahl Tomasson.
