Bournemouth have announced the signing of Bristol City sensation Alex Scott in what could prove a shrewd acquisition by the Cherries.
Scott has been making waves in the Championship with his exceptional performances that caught the attention of several top-flight clubs.
Several Premier League clubs have been monitoring the highly-rated teenager’s development at City, including Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.
However, Bournemouth have won the race for the England under-20 international, who is widely regarded as the next big thing in English football.
Scott has set the Cherries back around £20 million, which could be money well spent, considering Scott has a ridiculously high development ceiling.
The 19-year-old finished last season with 49 appearances across all competitions, bagging two goals and five assists.
He was voted the Championship Young Player of the Season and was named in the Championship Team of the Season.
Scott already has nearly 100 appearances to his name, and his ability to play several roles in midfield will give Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola several options in the middle of the park.
It remains to be seen if the youngster can deal with the pace of the Premier League, but he could easily be a hugely influential figure for the Cherries this season.
Scott suffered a knee injury during a recent training session at City, and his medical revealed he could be out for an extended period.
Having completed the transfer, Bournemouth’s medical team will now oversee his recovery. He will join Iraola’s squad following a period of rehabilitation.
Scott becomes the fifth summer signing of the transfer window to link up with Iraola’s squad, which is further proof of their lofty ambitions for the coming season.
On Saturday, the Cherries kick off their 2023/24 Premier League campaign with a tricky clash against West Ham at the Vitality Stadium.
