Bournemouth reject Newcastle’s Solanke enquiry | OneFootball

Bournemouth have knocked back Newcastle United’s enquiry over in-form striker Dominic Solanke, according to The Telegraph.

The Magpies’ quest for attacking reinforcements has hit a roadblock, with Bournemouth rebuffing their interest, meaning they will need to look elsewhere.

Newcastle manager and former Cherries boss Eddie Howe is a well-known admirer of Solanke, having brought him to the Vitality Stadium.

However, Bournemouth are adamant about keeping their star man.

With Dango Ouattara and Antoine Semenyo away at the Africa Cup of Nations and Kieffer Moore attracting Championship interest, manager Andoni Iraola is keen to maintain his attacking options.

The Cherries stand to make a sizeable profit on Solanke, signed from Liverpool in 2019 for £19 million, but financial gain takes a backseat to squad depth for now.

Solanke’s commitment also plays a part. He recently signed a long-term contract, and his recent scoring streak of eight goals in eight games only solidifies his value to Bournemouth.

His impressive showings have brought links to Arsenal as the Premier League contenders struggle in front of goal. However, Newcastle who have made the first move.

Howe wants to bolster his forward line despite Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson bagging 16 goals between them this season.

Many fans would prefer improvements were made elsewhere, particularly in midfield after Sandro Tonali’s betting ban left them light in that department.

They have been linked with Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips, but the deal has not progressed as quickly as fans would have hoped.
