Borussia Dortmund working on trying to sign Ian Maatsen from Chelsea | OneFootball

Borussia Dortmund had already begun their winter business on Friday when they brought back Nuri Şahin and Sven Bender as assistant coaches and now they are beginning to focus on the squad as they look for a left-back reports Bild.

Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen is one of the targets for Dortmund and they are trying to find a way to be able to sign the left-back as his likely price tag will be too high for Dortmund for a move in the winter, whilst a loan move is also not possible as Chelsea currently have too many players out on loan.

Dortmund are working on creative ways to sign the 21-year-old who will likely provide competition for Ramy Bensebaini once he returns from the Africa Cup of Nations as the Algerian has been underwhelming since joining Dortmund in the summer.

If a deal for Maatsen cannot materialise then Sergio Reguliòn could be an alternative. The Spaniard has a clause in his loan agreement with Manchester United that can cut it short if he wishes to move to the Bundesliga.
