Borussia Dortmund host Sturm Graz on November 5, their next Champions League game. But around 100 fans will have to be reallocated seats after UEFA claimed them for ‘partners and sponsors’.
As reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, they were informed by the club, via email, on Wednesday. “We can understand that this news is not well received. We have therefore tried to avoid re-seating until the very end. Ultimately, however, UEFA is entitled to these places due to competition regulations, so we have to comply with this obligation.”
UEFA have claimed seats in the lower tier of the east stand, some of which are home to season ticket holders. According to RN’s report, Borussia Dortmund are ‘powerless’ in this case, as all Champions League participants, and UEFA, stipulate that a certain number of seats must be awarded to the organisation for ‘partners and sponsors’.
This will also be the case in the remaining Champions League games at the Westfalenstadion.
