Sport Bild (via @bvbnewsblog) reports that Borussia Dortmund head coach Nuri Şahin maintains the support of the club’s bosses after a meeting last week.
On Thursday of last week, a meeting between Matthias Sammer, Sven Mislintat, Lars Ricken, Sebastian Kehl and Nuri Şahin took place and it was decided that Şahin’s job is not under threat despite recent poor performances and a lack of consistency.
During the meeting, the former midfield was assured of his job and the hierarchy maintained confidence in him. The 2-1 win against RB Leipzig two weeks ago is a reference for how the team should be performing when they are not plagued by injuries.
Şahin still maintains support from the players as well due to the relationship he built up with them during his time as assistant coach to Edin Terzic earlier this year. This has meant in the losses to Union Berlin, Augsburg and Mainz, the players have accepted responsibility for the due to their performances and not Şahin’s game plan.
Dortmund are currently seventh in the Bundesliga 10 points off of Bayern Munich already after only 10 games and have already been knocked out of the DFB Pokal as well.
