Spain manager Luis Enrique will announce his squad on Friday for the country’s next two matches against Switzerland (Saturday 24) and Portugal (Tuesday 27).

These two Nations League matches will be the last ones before the final call-up for the World Cup in Qatar, which Luis Enrique will have to offer by 13 November at the latest.

The two months remaining until Qatar 2022 gives the Asturian coach the opportunity to wait until the last minute for some of his key players, including Mikel Oyarzabal. Oyarzabal ruptured the ACL in his left knee on 17 March, but is still hopeful of making it to Qatar 2022.

Borja Iglesias, the Real Betis forward, could be an option in attack for La Roja and he is currently favourite to earn a call-up before the in-form Iago Aspas, according to AS.

La Roja surprises

There are several Spanish players who have had brilliant starts to the new season. Ferran Jutglà (23) is playing a key role for Club Brugge both domestically and in the Champions League.

Marc Cucurella (24) has settled in at Chelsea after a strong season with Brighton. Luis Enrique is always on the lookout for players who are in the form of their lives and Caio Henrique (25) is one of them. The Spanish-Brazilian is currently plying his trade at Monaco and is one of the best left-backs in Ligue 1, having been voted player of the month. He is in the running for Brazil and Spain, as he has a Spanish passport.
