According to L’Équipe, Bordeaux attacker Alberth Elis (28) underwent surgery last night and the operation went well. The 28-year-old sustained ‘severe head trauma’ after a head clash in the opening 34 seconds of Les Girondins’ Ligue 2 match against Guingamp.

After being stretchered off, Elis was transferred to a nearby hospital to receive further treatment for his injury. According to France Bleu, the forward was placed into an induced coma on route to the hospital after the player’s state became agitated despite regaining consciousness. The player’s family were with him as he was transferred to hospital after being in attendance at Bordeaux’s match against Guingamp.
