The Bolton Wanderers man may be edging closer to an exit after just a year with the Trotters

Steven Schumacher is preparing for his first full season as Bolton Wanderers manager.

The 41-year-old took over from Ian Evatt in January with a goal of achieving play-off football but fell two places short of the top six come May.

Wanderers have started the window with real intent, already adding Thierry Gale, Xavier Simons, Sam Dalby, Richard Taylor, Charlie Warren, Amario Cozier-Duberry and Teddy Sharman-Lowe to their ranks.

However, as is the nature of the transfer market, outgoings will also be expected at the Toughsheet Community Stadium this summer.

One player that may already be assessing his options is Klaidi Lolos, who barely featured for the Trotters once Schumacher was appointed.

Klaidi Lolos could look for Bolton Wanderers exit this summer

Lolos joined Bolton last summer from Crawley Town on a three-year contract, with Evatt clearly fond of the forward.

"He's a very talented boy. He's aggressive with and without the ball but also extremely technical," the former Wanderers boss told BBC Radio Manchester.

The 24-year-old played most of his football last season under Evatt, featuring extensively from October through until January.

He netted twice during this period, but after Schumacher was appointed, saw his playing time rapidly reduced.

Lolos would start just two matches for Bolton’s new manager, highlighting how out of favour he was within the Wanderers ranks.

If the Trotters set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation next term, the Greek forward would fall behind John McAtee and Joel Randall in the pecking order for the No.10 role.

It seems unimaginable that Lolos will be able to usurp that duo, especially after news broke that he hadn’t been included in Bolton’s pre-season training camp in Spain.

Therefore, all signs point towards a transfer away from the Trotters this summer.

Still at just 24 years of age, Lolos can’t afford to waste crucial years of his development fighting just to get into Schumacher’s squad and instead should opt for an immediate exit.

Klaidi Lolos still has the quality to feature in League One

Last season proved to be a disappointing one for the Greek forward, after making the jump up to the third-tier but failing to make an impression on the division.

However, the manager that signed him suffered a dismal campaign himself and was relieved of his duties halfway through, which didn’t create an ideal environment for Lolos to acclimatise to League One.

An ankle injury suffered on his competitive debut also handed the 24-year-old an early setback, with these factors all combining to ultimately limit his potential impact on the Bolton attack.

The year prior saw the 24-year-old record 22 goal contributions for Crawley Town in all competitions, which showed that he was ready to play at a higher level.

That may not have come to fruition with the Trotters, but other sides in League One would surely hold an interest in Lolos’ services.

Promoted sides such as Bradford City and Port Vale would be able to offer the playmaker a more extensive run in the team, which may allow him to become more consistent throughout a season.

His ability to unlock defences and convert chances was well-documented in League Two, attributes which are crucial for teams towards the bottom of the division who need to make their rare chances count.

Therefore, a new environment could be exactly what Lolos needs to recapture his form in the third-tier.
