Bolton Wanderers have made a “take it or leave it” final bid for Bristol Rovers striker Aaron Collins, as confirmed by manager Ian Evatt.

It has been another impressive campaign for the Trotters in England’s third division, despite the disappointment they suffered last season.

Bolton were one of the early season favourites for promotion, and the Lancashire side have certainly lived up to that billing, as they sit in second place on 57 points, three behind leaders Portsmouth with three games in hand.

So, Bolton are in a very good position as this transfer window comes to a close, but that hasn’t stopped the League One side from still adding to their squad.

The club has already brought in Nathanael Ogbeta and Calvin Ramsay on loan from Swansea City and Liverpool, respectively.

However, it doesn’t look like they want to stop there, as they continue their pursuit of Collins from Bristol Rovers.

The Bristol Rovers striker is very much a wanted man as the transfer window draws to a close, with several teams looking at signing the player.

Bolton’s manager confirmed the club had seen a bid worth £600,000 for Aaron Collins rejected and he stated at the time that the club were weighing up what to do next.

London News Online, that Charlton Athletic had also seen a bid rejected for the player, with there’s said to be in the £500,000 bracket.

Now, according to The Bolton News, Bolton have made an improved offer which is described as “take it or leave it” bid worth £750,000.

While Bristol Live report that Charlton do remain in the race for the striker despite seeing a bid rejected as mentioned last week.

The report states it is unclear if Rovers will accept the bid, as it is closer to their £1 million valuation, but still short.

Bolton were in action on Tuesday night as they travelled to Blackpool to face the Tangerines in the EFL Trophy, a game they lost 5-4 on penalties.

After the game, Evatt was asked about the latest on Collins, and the Bolton boss provided an update on the situation.

Evatt told The Bolton News: “Sometimes it is easily said when you go ‘it’s our last bid’ but it really is.”

“This is our last bid. They either accept it, or they don’t.

“If they do, brilliant, if they don’t, we’ll move on.”

Bristol Rovers should accept the latest Bolton offer

Obviously, Bristol Rovers will not want to lose Collins so close to the transfer deadline, but they have to look at things in perspective, and this may be the best offer they will get for the striker.

Collins has been excellent for the Gas, but this season his numbers have dropped off, so for them to be getting around £750,000 for Collins is a very good price, especially for a player who will be in his final 12 months of his contract in the summer.

Therefore, while it isn’t ideal, they should look to accept this deal and then use that money to reinvest in the squad either in this window or wait until the summer, when they will be starting a fresh.
