Bologna defender and former Roma player Riccardo Calafiori spoke in favor of the prospect that included both teams qualifying for the Champions League this season.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Calafiori – who has been reborn under Bologna boss Thiago Motta following a difficult few years spent between Roma and Basel in Switzerland – discussed the Felsinei’s impressive season and the possibility of helping his team reach a historic Champions League qualification.

“It is certainly no coincidence that we are up there with some of the top clubs in the country,” Calafiori told the Italian newspaper.

“It’s no longer the start of the season, we’re in March. Let’s try to continue like this until the end and then, why not, make this dream come true.”

“We are united on the pitch and it shows a lot, but we are also united off it: we are often together, we organize dinners with the team and staff. We’re a wonderful group, with many young people and some veterans: I’ve experienced many teams in my young career but this is one of the best.”

“Roma? I still chat with a lot of my ex-teammates… I have confidence in my team. Obviously if securing fifth place will be enough and both teams qualify I would be very happy.”
