Bologna Fc 1909 eSports, the Rossoblù’s Esports team, joins the Osservatorio Italiano Esports, the first B2B platform for networking, information and training for stakeholders in the sector. The agreement is part of the club’s strategy to further strengthen its position in the video game market in view of the second edition of the eSerie A TIM, the virtual championship of the Lega Serie A TIM starting on 15 February.

Bologna Fc 1909 eSports, which came second last year in the PES tournament of the eSerie A TIM, was set up in 2019 with the aim of offering a new strategic asset to the Club. In addition to ensuring better contact with the younger generation, the management of the team is already proving to be an additional source of revenue, as evidenced by the titling of the KING brand.

What until yesterday, we were calling ‘the future’ is already here,” explains Christoph Winterling, Marketing and Commercial Director of Bologna Fc 1909. “Bologna was one of the first teams in Italy to enter the world of competitive electronic games, and this helped us to get to know an environment that is now part of our everyday life. Today, our duty is to organise ourselves in an increasingly structured way in order to grow our community and compare ourselves with the companies that populate this sector. This is why we are enthusiastically joining OIES“.

With this new entry, seven representatives of Italian professional football have joined the Italian Esports Observatory: in addition to the Rossoblù, there is also the FIGC, Lega Pro, Inter, Udinese, Sampdoria and Monza.

The fact that Bologna FC 1909 has decided to join our network is a sign that professional sport is paying more and more attention to Esports and gaming – comment Luigi Caputo and Enrico Gelfi, founders of the Observatory – The club has a long-term project, which is already bringing significant benefits to its marketing and communication strategies and that we are sure will become increasingly strategic“.

The Italian Esports Observatory is a spin-off project of Sport Digital House, a digital agency focused on the sports sector that develops innovative funnel marketing strategies for companies using its network of athletes and Esports teams.
