Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar reportedly does ‘not intend’ to play for another club before he retires, despite being linked with Manchester United in recent weeks.

It has been suggested that the French giants could look to offload the Brazilian trickster after an alleged fallout in the dressing room, however, it now seems a monumental bid would be required to prise him away from the Parc des Princes.

This will come as a blow to multiple European teams, as Neymar is arguably one of the best players in the world on his day.

These developments come at a time of uncertainty for PSG. After being knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich last Wednesday, it’s thought that manager Christoph Galtier could be sacked in the near future.

Indeed, with players like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in their ranks, you would expect the Parisians to have clinched that illusive Champions League trophy by now.

Nevertheless, the club’s hierarchy are reportedly keen to keep Neymar, despite accusations that he is causing problems behind the scenes.

This is according to reputed transfer journalist David Ornstein, who claims that the 31-year-old would like to finish his career at PSG, despite widespread reports to the contrary.

On Twitter, he wrote: “Neymar wants to finish his career at PSG. 31yo contracted to 2027 + as things stand does not intend to play for another club.

“[He’s] often [been] linked with moves but plans to stay & given £200m move in 2017, it would take a huge investment to change that.”

As previously reported by Football365, Manchester United have previously registered a ‘genuine’ interest in signing Neymar, so now Erik Ten Hag will have to look elsewhere for attacking recruits.

The reason for their interest is clear, as Neymar’s statistics from his PSG career are nothing short of sensational.

Since joining the French giants in 2017, the Brazil international has made 173 appearances across all competitions, scoring 118 goals and making 77 assists, giving him an almost ridiculous average of 1.13 goal contributions per game.

He has also lifted plenty of trophies during his time in the French capital, helping his team to win four league titles, three French Cups and two French League Cups, with only the Champions League still yet to be won (although, he has already at Barcelona).

If these latest reports are to be believed, that will undoubtedly be Neymar’s target before he eventually retires.

However, after recently sustaining a serious ankle injury, the Brazilian has been ruled out of the remainder of the season. For that reason, he may find it difficult to return to his brilliant best.

With that in mind, Manchester United may have actually dodged a bullet with Neymar set to remain at PSG, as he may not be the player he has been in the past when he returns.
