Blackburn Rovers: Seven-figure boost potentially on the horizon as Adam Wharton valuation emerges

Midfielder Wharton has been a key player for Oliver Glasner's side since his move from Blackburn Rovers during the summer transfer window, with the Eagles managing to beat Chelsea to the England youth international's signature.

With the player still inexperienced and needing to make the step up from the Championship, it was unclear how he was going to perform at Selhurst Park during the early stages of his time there.

But he has managed to adapt very well and has been a key player in a number of games, shining against many elite teams including Manchester United during his short time in the English capital.

And it may only be a matter of time before he moves on, with vultures also likely to be circling for the likes of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise ahead of the summer window.

Bayern Munich, who were previously interested in Wharton, have retained their interest in the player and are preparing to swoop for him, according to Nixon.

The Bundesliga side have endured a very unsuccessful 2023/24 campaign under Thomas Tuchel and could benefit from having someone like the midfielder in the long term.

He has been tipped to play in the Champions League sooner rather than later - and a move to Bayern could give him the opportunity to do that.

Blackburn Rovers look set to profit from Adam Wharton's success

Rovers have produced and developed some excellent players in recent years - and they deserve the opportunity to profit from this.

Selling the midfielder to Palace for up to £22m, it already looks as though the Eagles will make a very healthy profit on the player and that will benefit Rovers, who included a sell-on percentage in their deal with Glanser's men.

They will reportedly claim 10%-15% of the profit that Palace make on the midfielder, which could prove to be extremely valuable for a side that have worked within a limited budget in recent years.

If the Eagles do make a profit of around £40m, that could allow Blackburn to secure £4m or more for the player, which would be a very decent chunk of money.

Blackburn Rovers supporters will have mixed feelings about Adam Wharton update

Blackburn fans will be gutted about the fact they weren't able to generate a bigger fee for Wharton, especially when considering how much he's valued at now.

He was on a long-term contract at Ewood Park, so they had the ability to hold out longer and generate an even bigger fee for him in the future.

Wharton could have even helped Blackburn to secure extra points between the time of his departure and the end of the 2023/24 season.

However, it's good that they have a sell-on percentage, because it will be a welcome injection of cash.

They could use that money to strengthen their squad, which could allow them to remain in their current division for the long term under John Eustace.
