Arsenal have seen an offer rejected by Rovers for Igor Tyjon, with the 17-year-old linked to a move to the Emirates Stadium by The Athletic.

Wonderkid Igor Tyjon has caught the eye of Arsenal

The Gunners, who have finished as runners-up in the last three Premier League seasons, have a well-renowned academy. And, they have reportedly eyed Tyjon up as the latest addition to their youthful ranks.

The likes of Bukayo Saka, who has become an Arsenal regular, and Myles Lewis-Skelly, who recently announced himself on the international stage with a goal on debut for England, are examples of the exciting Hale End academy.

The Gunners are now keen to secure Tyjon as their latest youth addition, but Blackburn are not letting him go easily.

The Championship side have reportedly already rejected an offer for the left-winger, who can also play centrally as a striker.

He scored four times in seven Premier League 2 games last term, while he made substitute appearances against both Bristol City and Sunderland for the first team at Ewood Park.

As an England youth international, Tyjon has found the back of the net twice across eight appearances at under-17s level.

The winger played at under-16s level for both Poland and his home country of England, and certainly has a bright future as one of the top young talents on display in the Championship.

Blackburn Rovers should hold firm for future gold

At only 17, Tyjon has a long way to go in his career.

He is yet to break into the first team, and that may take a few more years of development.

The Championship is a demanding and physical division, and for a player as young as Tyjon that can be a stern challenge.

However, remaining at Blackburn will likely be best for his career when compared to a move to a Premier League academy.

There are positives and negatives to these decisions on all sides.

For Tyjon, he has a greater chance of having a breakout season at Rovers, who are managed by former Watford boss Valerien Ismael.

That has got to be a major pull for the winger, as he has the chance to develop his skills at the Premier League 2 level while also potentially dipping into the world of senior men's football.

On the other side of the debate is the opportunity to play alongside and with some of the best young players in the world, who have routinely come out of the Arsenal ranks.

For Rovers it is a no-brainer, though.

They should only sell Tyjon for the right price, and ideally keep him tied down for the next few years in order to receive as much profit as they can when he moves on to a higher level.

Allowing the youngster to leave now will bring in some financial reward, but that would surely pale in comparison to the funds they would be due if Tyjon continues to develop at the pace he is for the next couple of seasons.
