Sunderland pulled off a sensational 2-1 comeback victory over Sheffield United last Saturday to bounce back into the Premier League after an eight-year sojourn in the EFL - and the Black Cats owe a huge debt to their two young goal scorers, who have written their names into the history books.
Trailing at the break to Tyrese Campbell's 25th minute opener for the Blades, Regis Le Bris' side clawed their way back into the game through Eliezer Mayenda's 76th minute equaliser before Watson - who has joined Brighton for next season - scored a dramatic injury-time winner to seal promotion for Sunderland.
Only the second teenager ever to score in a Championship play-off final, Watson gave the Black Cats the perfect gift prior to his departure - only Leicester City's former wonderkid Julian Joachim (18 years, 8 months and 12 days) netting a play-off final winner at a more tender age than the winger (19 years, 1 month and 17 days).
What made Sunderland's comeback win even more remarkable was that their other scorer, Mayenda, is now third on the list of youngest scorers in an Championship play-off final (dating back to the introduction of the format in the 1986/87 season).
