Birmingham City defender Neve Herron has signed a new one-year contract extension with the club.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from the Blues this evening.

Herron signed a two-year contract with Birmingham City after joining the club from Sunderland last summer and the Blues have now rewarded her with a further year.

The defender has made an impressive start to life at Birmingham City. Herron has featured in all 12 of the club’s matches in the Barclays Women’s Championship this season, starting 11 of those games. Only goalkeeper Lucy Thomas has played more minutes in the league for Birmingham City so far this season.

Birmingham City are building a squad for the future and they see Herron as a really important player in their group. They will now be able to call on her services for the next two-and-a-half years after extending her current deal.

After signing her contract extension, Herron said “We’ve got a special group here and a good set of coaching staff. I feel like I am already improving a lot as a player and person. I obviously want to get better, so I feel like this is the best place for me.

“The Club have big ambitions and it is something that I want to be a part of.”

Herron and Birmingham City return to action after the Christmas break with an Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie at Burnley on Sunday.
