Premier League hopefuls Ipswich Town are already planning ahead for the summer, with Sheffield United forward Daniel Jebbison firmly in their sights.

That is according to Alan Nixon via Patreon, who has claimed that the Tractor Boys are lining up a move for the 20-year-old, whose future could soon be decided by a tribunal.

Jebbison's contract at Bramall Lane is due to expire this summer, and despite talks over a new deal, Ipswich are confident they can snap him up.

Of course, given his age, a compensation fee will need to be involved, but Nixon claims that both clubs' valuations are likely to be miles apart, meaning a tribunal could decide the final sum.

All of the above comes after a troublesome campaign for Jebbison in which he has not featured for the senior Blades' side, owing to illness problems according to Nixon, as well as a blood clot earlier on in the campaign.

Daniel Jebbison may not be the right fit for Ipswich Town

With the above links in mind, below, some our our FLW writers have discussed the young forward potentially making the move to Portman Road.

These discussions focus on whether or not he would be a good signing for Ipswich, and indeed if they need a player in his position.

Simmey Hannifin-Donaldson

Having been handed his Premier League debut at just 17 years of age, Jebbison took next to no time to find his first goal in the top flight.

Given the trust shown in him, there is clearly a talented player in there, but big question marks remain over this deal nevertheless.

First and foremost, since departing Burton Albion on loan midway through 2021/22, Jebbison has made just 28 appearances in two-and-a-half seasons of football, with no appearances this campaign. Such little action is surely a concern for any interested club this summer.

Added to that, Ipswich already have a number of strong, up-and-coming striking options at the club, which raises another question mark over a potential move for Jebbison.

With the likes of George Hirst and Ali Al-Hamadi on their books permanently already, arguably, if Ipswich are to bring in any strikers this summer, they need to be far more experienced and established options than Daniel Jebbison.

The argument for that would only be strengthened if the club go on to win promotion to the Premier League.

There's little doubt that Jebbison has had a reputation in his young career, with Everton and Borussia Dortmund among the clubs being strong admirers of his in the past, but he's done little at senior level in-front of goal in the Championship and Premier League to be wanted by Ipswich Town.

He had a decent spell on loan at Burton Albion in League One, but that was over two years ago - and a season-long battle with injury and illness surely would bring his stock down somewhat.

Jebbison's arrival would be very similar to that of Ali Al-Hamadi who was brought in mid-season from AFC Wimbledon - young, quick and full of potential, when it is perhaps a bit more experience that Kieran McKenna needs up-front going into next season.

Someone in Kieffer Moore's mould is the kind of individual that should be targeted - Jebbison, whilst he could come back next season with a vengeance, is someone that should be steered clear of by the Tractor Boys.
