After a gruelling 2024-25 season, most FC Barcelona players are still enjoying their well-deserved holidays, visiting different parts of the world to relax and recharge their batteries ahead of another demanding season.
However, some of these players have already finished their vacations, and this is particularly the case with the defender Ronald Araujo, who is already in the city of Barcelona after spending his holidays in Uruguay, and reaching one of the most important milestones in his life, i.e., getting married.
The centre-back is looking to get back to his best physical shape and will start working on this task tomorrow, on Tuesday, 12 days before the rest of his teammates start their preseason training.
Both Deco and Hansi Flick see the Uruguayan as an important part of the Blaugrana squad, and he counts heavily in their plans for the next season.
However, despite this importance in the plans of the coach and the sporting director, his future will remain uncertain for the coming few days.
As Mundo Deportivo has noted, this is mainly because his release clause will fall to €60 million between 1st and 15th July, and some big European clubs can be attracted to take advantage of this opportunity to sign the defender.
Only last January, Araujo was tempted to leave Barcelona, for Arsenal or Juventus, as these clubs looked to take advantage of him losing his starting spot to Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez.
However, after winning the Spanish Super Cup and talks with his teammates, the centre-back decided to renew his contract with the Blaugrana club till 2031.
In a recent interview, Deco once again reiterated his confidence in Ronald Araujo, while also admitting of the need for the departure of at least one centre-back.
Barcelona are looking to return to the 1:1 status without selling the Uruguayan, and with his lowered release clause, some big European clubs can once again try to sign him.
