Big competition for Bayern! De Zerbi on the radar of several top clubs

Xabi Alonso is probably still at the top of the list in FC Bayern’s search for a coach. However, Roberto De Zerbi is now apparently also a promising candidate. However, Munich are not the only top club interested in the Italian.

If those responsible at FC Bayern really do want to make a serious bid for coach Roberto De Zerbi, the German record champions would obviously be facing stiff competition.

According to BILD, several top European clubs have the Brighton & Hove Albion coach on their radar. FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC are among those interested.

De Zerbi is particularly sought-after in the Premier League due to his performances at Brighton. Before joining the Seagulls, he coached Sassuolo in Italy and Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine, among others.

Advantage with De Zerbi: Cheaper solution than Alonso

As transfer insider Matteo Moretto had previously reported, De Zerbi is not just one of many names on Bayern’s coaching list. According to Moretto, there has been „direct contact“ between Bayern and De Zerbi in recent weeks. According to the report, the Italian is „intrigued and flattered by FC Bayern’s interest“.

One advantage for FCB in this candidate would be that De Zerbi is significantly cheaper than Alonso. According to the English Telegraph, De Zerbi, whose contract runs until 2026, has a release clause of €14 million. He could leave Brighton early for this sum.

Bayern would have to dig much deeper into their pockets for Alonso: A transfer fee of between 20 and 25 million euros would have to be paid to Bayer Leverkusen for the former FCB professional, as Sky recently reported.
