Everton striker Beto wants to repay “the love” shown to him by Toffees fans with “good performances, goals and assists” ahead of his home debut for the club against Arsenal on Sunday.

The 25-year-old, who arrived on Merseyside from Udinese last month, has enjoyed a strong start to life as a Blue, scoring just 28 minutes into his debut after coming on as a substitute in a comeback Carabao Cup victory over Doncaster Rovers.

He followed that up with his first start and another lively showing in the 2-2 draw at Sheffield United prior to the international break.

This has led to a groundswell of support behind their new man, with a chant already being made for the Portugal-born striker, and Beto has been effusive in returning the praise, saying: “The Everton fans are really amazing, they support us a lot, you can see that.”

He added that the desire to win is obvious amongst the fanbase, which he likes as well as the pressure that comes with it. It is “why we are here” according to the new man.

Beto went further saying he wants the fans to “see that I’m fighting for Everton, this is so important for me – and I want them to celebrate my goals, lots of them.”  He also believes that his style is “a really good fit” with the team.

Sean Dyche will be hoping that Beto can continue his strong start as he looks for his side’s first league win of the season at Goodison against former Toffee Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal side.
