A Beth Mead super fan has gone viral after inventing her own song for the Arsenal and England star.

Mead scored a hat-trick against Norway at the Amex Stadium on Monday night as England secured a record-breaking 8-0 win to book their place in the Euro 2022 quarter-finals.

It was an awe-inspiring performance from the Lionesses and one that some fans have hailed as the ‘best of all time.’

At the end of the match, Mead spoke of her joy at playing in a major competition at home and said she’s loving every moment of the journey so far.

“I don’t think I even dreamed of this,” she told the BBC. “I’m just so happy I got the goals to help the team.

“I’m just loving being here, loving being part of this team and loving every minute.”

Mead also scored the only goal in England’s 1-0 win over Austria and she is currently the tournament’s leading goal scorer with four.

Understandably, the winger has developed her own fan club and former Arsenal star Ian Wright was one of many to lead the praise.

Fan creates Mead song

Amid all of the praise directed at Mead, one particular fan stood out.

A young girl by the name of Amelie, who was interviewed on Sky Sports, showed off the song she’d allegedly created, in honour of ‘Meado’.

The lyrics go as follows: “There was a girl from England, Meado, Meado.

“She scores a goal from off the wing, Meado, Meado.

“The girl is good, we knew she was, she plays the game like she should.

“Beth Mead, footballer, plays for Arsenal.”

While it seems the song itself was created by another Arsenal super fan, named Maria Petri, Amelie certainly deserves to take the credit on this occasion.

The clip has been shared more than 300 times on Twitter and the official Lionesses account responded by sharing two heart emoji eyes.

Meanwhile, Fara Williams, England’s most capped player ever, responded: “Love this.”

Another fan simply wrote: “So so adorable.”

Mead’s outstanding form continues

Mead has been a regular in the England side ever since Sarina Wiegman took over and her goal-scoring form has been remarkable.

Since September 2021, Mead has netted 17 times for the Lionesses and scored four hat-tricks.

The 27-year-old is in the form of her life at the moment and has become one of England’s most integral players.

Wiegman may choose to rest Mead in the final group game against Northern Ireland on Friday, but the Arsenal forward will no doubt have a key role to play in the knockout stages.
