10. Bukayo Saka

  1. GW8 fixture: Bournemouth (A)
  2. Predicted points: 5.6

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka has picked up another knock over the international break, but his yellow flag hasn’t bumped him out of the top 10 ahead of a trip to Bournemouth. Saka is the Gunners’ top-performing player this season, with nine goal involvements in the opening seven gameweeks. His involvement in set pieces has seen an increase in assists this seaon and he also has penalties as an additional route to fantasy points.

9. Eberechi Eze

  1. GW8 fixture: Nottingham Forest (A)
  2. Predicted points: 5.7

Crystal Palace talisman Eberechi Eze continues to excel in the AI predictions, despite registering just one attacking return so far this season. He is the Eagles’ star fantasy performer for the campaign to date, but his side have only managed to score give goals. Eze continues to produce a high shot volume, ranking third on 27 points, behind Erling Haaland and Antoine Semenyo. He has created 14 chances for his teammates.

8. James Maddison

  1. GW8 fixture: West Ham (H)
  2. Predicted points: 5.7

Tottenham are a side on the up, having scored eight goals in their last four games and now they have a fixture swing too. Form pick Brennan Johnson is ripping up the transfer market, but key creator James Maddison is their star man for the campaign so far, with two goals and three assists. He dominates set pieces with 13 key passes, including three big chances created. He also carries goal threat too, scoring twice from four big chances on goal.

7. Dominic Solanke

  1. GW8 fixture: West Ham (H)
  2. Predicted points: 5.8

Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke is a key target and has the potential to be under-priced given his club switch this season. He comes in at a great price and is a regular for 90-minute performances. He has three goal involvements from five starts and with teammate Son Heung-min remaining a fitness doubt, there’s a chance that Solanke might be on spot-kicks too. Solanke scored 19 goals last campaign and he will be looking to add to his tally of two goals for the campaign against a struggling West Ham defence.

6. Anthony Gordon

  1. GW8 fixture: Brighton (H)
  2. Predicted points: 5.8

With doubts over the fitness of Newcastle United’s centre forwards, we could see Anthony Gordon once again start out of position as striker in this game, with two goals so far this season. Home comforts are significant here, with a great record at St James’ Park last season. Gordon has had four big chances this season, missing a penalty against former employers Everton last time out. He’s also created 15 chances for his teammates and so we can expect assists from him too.

5. Phil Foden

  1. GW8 fixture: Wolves (A)
  2. Predicted points: 6.0

Significantly we saw Phil Foden get his first start of the season last time out against Fulham, with his creativity much needed given that Kevin De Bruyne remains a fitness doubt. Foden was among the most prolific midfielders in the game last season, with 27 goal involvements in 33 appearances. A return to form could come at this moment away at Wolves, who sit at the very bottom of the Premier League table, having conceded a league high of 21 goals.

4. Chris Wood

  1. GW8 fixture: Crystal Palace (H)
  2. Predicted points: 6.0

Nottingham Forest’s good fixtures continue with a home game against Crystal Palace up next and three home games in their next four. Striker Chris Wood has scored four goals in seven games this season, with half of them coming at the City Ground. Among forwards, Wood sits sixth for big chances with seven and he also now has penalties in his locker too. Crystal Palace are a team without a clean sheet so far this season.

3. Cole Palmer

  1. GW8 fixture: Liverpool (A)
  2. Predicted points: 6.6

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer remains a top transfer target for this week as the highest-scoring FPL player of the season, with a leading 11 goal involvements. A trip to Liverpool could be a tricky one to navigate, with this fixture ending 4-1 last campaign and a blank from Palmer. Liverpool have a leading five clean sheets this season, having only conceded two goals. Palmer has the routes to points, given his goal and assist threat, plus he is on penalties.

2. Erling Haaland

  1. GW8 fixture: Wolves (A)
  2. Predicted points: 8.2

It’s a surprise to see Erling Haaland only in second place here, with an attractive trip to Wolves who are without a clean sheet this season. Haaland has the pedigree in this fixture, with eight goals in four appearances against them and given that he is also the current top goalscorer with 10 goals, he boasts masses of potential in this fixture. I can’t comprehend a situation where Manchester City don’t score, and Haaland has scored almost 60% of their goals so far this season.

1. Mohamed Salah

  1. GW8 fixture: Chelsea (H)
  2. Predicted points: 8.3

Mohamed Salah leads the AI rankings as the best captain pick for FPL Gameweek 8 as Liverpool entertain Chelsea at Anfield this weekend. Salah has had a sound start to the season, with eight goal involvements from seven appearances, and just two blanks in this spell. Chelsea have kept two clean sheets this season and both of them have come on the road. Salah is top among midfielders for shots on target this season with 15, plus he is on penalties.
