Beşiktaş president Fikret Orman has big plans for the Turkish giants, including someday signing Cristiano Ronaldo.

Orman claims Beşiktaş have a major following worldwide with a rich history and therefore belongs in Europe’s elite. However, he has acknowledged that the club’s current form isn’t the best.

“Besiktas are not at the level we want right now, we have much work to do,” Orman told CRI Turk.

“We have come to a certain level; this level is not the level Besiktas should be. Besiktas is a club with a world-class team and 115 years of history before anything else.”

According to Orman there’s a lot to be done before the club could attract a player like Ronaldo.

“At this point, we are not good enough, we’ll do better. It’s not like this, we need time and we need to work. We have a lot of work to do for him [Ronaldo].”

Ronaldo has been linked to the Turkish club in recent times. There was even reports claiming that he’ll be open to consider a move to Beşiktaş, who have successfully lured fellow Portuguese internationals Pepe and Ricardo Quaresma to the club.

However, it seems unlikely the transfer can happen in the near future, as Ronaldo is still in top form.

Orman is not only focused on signing Ronaldo, but also on “reaching 100 million supporters in a short space of time” and “to make all of our supporters happy” through football and social projects.

Surely all Beşiktaş fans will be very happy if the club president could somehow pull off bringing Ronaldo to play for their beloved team.

We somehow don’t think that’s on the cards.
