Besiktas enquire about possibility of signing Manchester United’s Facundo Pellistri | OneFootball

Super Lig giants Besiktas have reportedly enquired about Manchester United star Facundo Pellistri ahead of the summer transfer window.

Pellistri spent the latter half of last season on loan at Granada, where he quickly embedded himself as one of the side’s most important players.

The Uruguayan made 15 La Liga appearances or featured for 1,221 minutes. In that time, he managed two goals and as many assists.

Despite Granada being relegated, Pellistri showed glimpses of his brilliance and what he could bring to a club if given the opportunity to play regularly.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person revealed that the forward is among a number of United stars set to be made available for transfer as INEOS plans an overhaul of the squad.

Pellistri arrived at Old Trafford from Penarol in October 2020. The Red Devils forked out £7.65million to secure his services from the Primera División outfit. However, the player has not had the desired impact and has struggled to nail down a consistent run of matches.

A few weeks ago, Pellistri admitted that he was not satisfied with the playing time afforded to him at United. He also declared his ambition to get more first-team minutes under his belt.

According to Turkish daily Sabah, Besiktas have shown interest in the 22-year-old and are eager to add him to their ranks.

Besiktas are aiming to reinforce their squad with quality options and Pellistri is said to be at the “top of the list”, so much so that they “asked about the transfer conditions” for getting a deal over the line.

Sabah however note that it will be difficult for Besiktas to land Pellistri because a move for him may fall outside their budget.

The news outlet failed to specify whether Besiktas want the United man on loan or on a permanent basis.

His current contract with United expires in the summer of 2025.
