Besiktas vice-President Hüseyin Yücel has confirmed that his team have recently been interested in pursuing a deal for unwanted Juventus and Italy forward Federico Chiesa, but he claimed that the club have since moved on after hearing of the player’s ‘illogical’ salary request.

Chiesa is widely tipped to leave Juventus before the end of the summer transfer window, as he is not part of coach Thiago Motta’s plans heading into the 2024-25 season.

What Yücel said about Chiesa and Besiktas interest

Yücel suggested that there are seven clubs who are interested in striking a deal with Juventus for Chiesa, but the Old Lady are yet to receive a formal offer for the former Fiorentina man.

The Besiktas vice-President also confirmed that he and his colleagues had discussed the idea of bringing the 26-year-old to Turkey for ‘about 10 days’, but now they will move on to other targets.

Yücel believes that Chiesa is asking for a salary of around €9m per season.

“It’s true, we were talking about Chiesa for about 10 days,” Yücel said, reported via Corriere dello Sport.

“I would like to point out that the player has a salary expectation of around €9 million, on top of Juve’s request to settle for around €15m.

“Currently, seven clubs are on his trail, but the requests are illogical and it is not possible for us to satisfy them. For that reason, the player is no longer on Besiktas’s agenda. The club’s interests are more important than the names of the players.”

Besiktas recently welcomed another Italy representative to the club in Ciro Immobile, who joined in a permanent deal from Lazio earlier this summer.
