Kevin Sauvage is reporting that Bernd Hollerbach is one of the candidates being considered to take over at Standard Liege. The German head coach is available for free after leaving Hansa Rostock during the 2024/2025 season following a poor start to their 3 Liga campaign. Standard had been keen on Karel Geraets but it appears that they are not able to meet his financial terms for joining. Instead, they look set to pursue the likes of Hollerbach who will be more within their budget.
Hollerbach had real success during his most recent spell in Belgium. His defensive Sint Truiden side were hard to break down and were never in any danger of relegation. This was certainly a bonus for a club that had been used to relegation battles prior to the German’s appointment. During his time with the Canaries Hollerbach averaged 1.4 points per game, winning 27, drawing 15 and losing 27. Hollerbach also had spells with Hamburg and Mouscron in the past.
