“Been out too long” – Stevie G delivers cautious Ryan Jack update

Ibrox Noise received some abuse last night after Steven Gerrard’s latest ‘two week’ comments over Ryan Jack.

As you’ll recall, we explained our sources have informed us he isn’t expected to play again this year, something which assistant manager Gary Mac was unable to deny.

Gerrard’s comments in his pre-Dundee presser a couple of days later expanded a bit with a touch of the ‘two weeks’ rhetoric, which of course we heard in July:

“Ryan Jack is due back on the training pitch any day now and hopefully get him back with the group in a couple of weeks.”

Now, let us remind you that we said he isn’t expected to play again this year, not that he isn’t expected to train again.

Gerrard isn’t strictly saying anything he hasn’t before. If you recall, the previous talk was all about being given the green light by the consultant to engage in full ‘confrontation’ football but that green light didn’t happen (despite his urging twice that it would) and we’ve waited instead two months to get any kind of update.

Well, Stevie has elaborated further and it’s cautious at best.

The manager added there’s no date on his return, that he didn’t want to put pressure on the player, and that ‘hopefully this time he can come back clean and ready’ and that he’s been ‘out too long’ to make any prediction on his return.

Hopefully Jacko does get the full return soon, and is back in full proper training ASAP because lord knows we need him.

But equally we were extremely disappointed at the abuse that article took when SG made his comments yesterday.

This is one we’d love to be wrong about, and for the player to be back soon – but for some Rangers fans to hurl insults just because they only read a portion of what Stevie said in a presser is really not what we need.

Thank you.
