Manchester United appear to be nearing a transfer for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte. Ahead of the Red Devils’ match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, manager Erik ten Hag was asked about the file.

L’Equipe reported this week that PSG and Manchester United are close to finalizing a loan deal for Ugarte, which includes a €60 million obligation to buy. The two clubs have made substantial progress in their negotiations, and the deal could be wrapped up within the next few hours.

Although a transfer isn’t done yet, that isn’t stopping the media from asking those close to the situation how far along the transfer is. Ten Hag spoke to the media on Thursday and noted that patience is the key in this situation.

“Be patient, sit, wait, keep working very hard,” Ten Hag said (h/t The Guardian). “We will always try to make the best squad possible. We have a couple of days and we will always improve, as long as we have the opportunity we will look for it. When we have news we will bring it.”

Ugarte featured in 37 games for the reigning Ligue 1 champions last season, contributing three assists. The former Sporting Lisbon star started the season strongly, but his playing time decreased in the latter half as he was mainly used as a rotational player rather than a regular starter.
