Bayern’s annual lederhosen photoshoot with partner Paulaner took place at Munich’s Nockherberg on Wednesday. Around three weeks before the start of Oktoberfest in the city, the players and coaches were already getting into the mood for the famous festival. It was obviously a special occasion for Vincent Kompany and his new backroom staff, as well as new signings Joao Palhinha and Michael Olise, who got their first taste of Bavarian fashion. Hiroki Ito and Josip Stanisic weren’t involved due to their injuries.

Midfielder Palhinha, who according to Joshua Kimmich looked the best in lederhosen, clearly felt the Bavarian attire was a natural fit: “The lederhosen are great. I’d already heard all about Oktoberfest from my teammates and know it’s a really important party for Bayern. I’m really looking forward to it.” Kompany also enjoyed his lederhosen debut: “It’s the first time I’ve worn these nice lederhosen, and I’m looking forward to the Oktoberfest visit with my whole team. One thing that’s really important to me is that I want to learn the culture of the city and country where I live.”

Bayern held an open training session for fans earlier on Wednesday:
